Editor & Publisher today named OnMilwaukee the winner of its 2018 EPPY Award for "Best Entertainment/Cultural News on a Website (with under 1 million unique monthly visitors)."

This year’s EPPY Awards saw more than 300 entries competing in 30 diverse categories.

2018 marks the sixth EPPY-winning year for OnMilwaukee. You can view all the winners here.

Now in its 23rd year, this international contest honors the best digital-media websites. The awards also recognize excellence in college and university journalism in three different categories.

Each EPPY entry is judged on its own merits within a particular category. Finalists must receive a score in the top one-third of the average score across all categories within their division (1 million and over unique monthly visitors and under 1 million unique monthly visitors). As a result, there may be no winner in categories not reaching this threshold.

"In our 20th year, we continue to innovate and diversify, we're everywhere in the community with our social influencers, and have built deep relationships that matter," said Jeff Sherman, OnMilwaukee co-founder and president. "When we enhance our footprint and monetize quality content and reporting, we anchor in local and impact nationally too.  We build community, and it shows. Truly grateful and thankful for another EPPY."

The Milwaukee-based digital media company also took top EPPY honors in 2017, 2016, 2012 and 2008, and was a finalist in 2003, 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2015. OnMilwaukee is the only digital media company in Wisconsin to win an EPPY this year.

"Connections, content and creativity matter. We tell stories that enhance our market, create value for our partners and drive engagement," said Carolynn Buser, content and editorial director. "This is a testament to our digital team - they drive connections with our community."

"We've worked hard every day for more than 20 years to build a company and product we all believe in," said OnMilwaukee co-founder and publisher Andy Tarnoff. "It's great to be recognized by our peers again, both in producing amazing content and connecting with our community through Locamoji, our innovative sticker and emoji app and exciting new ventures like our MLB playoff coverage on Facebook."

OnMilwaukee continues to innovate with its bold, ongoing Poseidon project that's constantly and completely revamping both the OnMilwaukee.com publishing suite and front-end usability experience, implementing new data points and creating a fresh, new design.
