New nightclubs are opening up on a regular basis downtown. Have a Nice Day Cafe and Banana Joe's are fairly recent additions to the Old World Third St. area and Three just opened its doors on N. Milwaukee St.

Now, a new place called Eve is getting ready to hit downtown later this summer. Opening up right after Labor Day, according to a reliable source, Eve will be located next to Three on the 700 block of N. Milwaukee St.

Another venture of the owners of the Tom Tom Club, Eve will be a two-story establishment with a restaurant downstairs and club upstairs.

The restaurant will serve until 1 a.m. -- remarkable in itself for downtown Milwaukee -- and feature a food selection similar to Elsa's on the Park.

Upstairs, the club will be split up into three rooms. One will be the bar, another will hold the dance floor and the third will have tables in it for more intimate conversation. Both floors are to have high ceilings.

Word is that Eve will cater to a crowd in their 20's and 30's and not college kids. The music will have more of an acid jazz flavor than typical nightclub tunes.

Stay tuned for more information about Eve as it develops.
