Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will be honored for his courage on November 7 at the 15th Annual Evening of Hope gala, to benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center.

Evening of Hope recognizes the thousands of lives affected by domestic violence each year in the Milwaukee community. Sojourner Family Peace Center strives to bring hope and inspiration for survivors looking to escape the cycle of violence.

"Not only did the Mayor save a family on that day in August, he has increased the public's awareness of the issue of family violence. His courage extended past those few fateful minutes, as he has continued to be courageous in championing this critical issue in our community," said Angela Mancuso, Executive Director of Sojourner Family Peace Center.

Evening of Hope will be held at the Italian Community Center, with cocktails and a silent auction at 6 p.m. with dinner and a program to follow.

The honorary co-chairs of Evening of Hope are Tina Chang of SysLogic, Inc., Chris Abele of the Argosy Foundation, and Peggy Coakley of Coakley Brothers. Individual tickets are $250, with $228.05 tax deductible.

Proceeds will help Sojourner Family Peace Center provide victims of domestic violence with safety and shelter. This aid directly assists in everything from food and childcare supplies to securing facilitators for group sessions and transportation to safety.
