Everett Rupert says his writing skills are a "God-given talent" and one that he is determined to share with the world. The 58-year-old retired Milwaukee Public Schools' special education teacher is a freelance writer and the founder of a writing and editing business, RupertConsulting.net.
"The world of writing has taught me things that I would have not known about had I not embarked on this journey," says Rupert.
RupertConsulting.net offers editing and proofreading services, ghost writing and publication advice. The cost for manuscript editing is $7 per page, or $10 per page for ghost writing.
The site also contains interviews, poetry and information for writers.
"Who would have known that one should submit a query letter to see if what you're writing about might interest a publisher? Or where would one find out that to copyright their materials is a safeguard? Such matters, along with many others, are covered by my website," says Rupert.
Rupert, a self-taught writer, says his specialty is ghost writing books. (A ghost writer is a professional writer who is paid to write books, articles, stories or other texts that are credited to another person.)
"I will push, pull and drag my client, kicking and screaming if need be, in an effort to produce the best manuscript possible," he says.
Currently, Rupert is working on an autobiography, a collection of poems with the working title of "The Morning Rain" and an adventure-type novel. Rupert is affiliated with Urban-Reviews.com and will be a presenter at the Great Midwest Bookfest on June 5, 2011 in Milwaukee.
Rupert's previously-written books include "That Day I Found Out," "The Heat From Living," "The Curly-Headed Brother" and "This Book, Nothing Tricky About It."
According to Rupert, "This Book, Nothing Tricky About It" details to the ups and downs of a man defining himself. "In an unpretentious manner," he says.
PublishAmerica published Rupert's work. PublishAmerica -- the home of 40,000 authors -- promotes the works of new, previously undiscovered writers. Like more mainstream publishers, PublishAmerica pays its authors advances and royalties and makes its books available through bookstores.
"PublishAmerica offers a distinctly personal, supportive alternative to vanity presses and less accessible publishers," says the website.
