Turf care

Apply Lied's Lawn Food

Aerate turf

Tree, Shrub and Evergreen Care

Plant bareroot nursery stock if soil is workable

Plant potted and balled nursery stock

Feed trees, shrubs and evergreens with granular or water soluble fertilizer

Excellent time to dig and plant evergreen trees

Water newly planted trees and shrubs in rainfall is inadequate (<1" rain/week)

Water evergreens if rainfall is inadequate (1" rain/week)

Wrap smooth barked trees with tree wrap

Best time to prune Elms and Oaks

Install hardware cloth fencing to protect plants from rabbits & mice (Euonymus, Prunus, Korean Spice + others)

Cover tender, woody plants with burlap or evergreen boughs

Monitor vole activity in landscape

Apply Ropel, Deer Off, or Milorganite for deer repellent

Flower, Bulb and Groundcover Care

Cover ground cover & perennials with evergreen boughs

Winterize hybrid roses by mounding graft with soil

Plant mums & pansies and flowering kale, for seasonal fall color

Continue feeding annual flowers

Plant spring blooming bulbs (Tulips, daffodils, crocus, etc.)
