The folks at Summerfest host a reception tonight at the Hyatt to kick off the festival's 40th anniversary. The invitation suggests that the event will feature music, giveaways and "Exciting 40th Anniversary Announcements."

We're not sure what that entails, but there is buzz building in town that Bon Jovi could soon be added to the list of headliners for Big Gig, Version 2007. Bon Jovi and the boys aren't on tour this summer, but the band is slated to perform as part of the "Live Earth" series on July 7, which will feature concerts in Brazil, Shanghai, Japan, Johannesburg, London, Sydney and the Eastern United States. Proceeds benefit Save Our Selves (SOS) -- The Campaign for a Climate in Crisis.

Another band on the Summerfest radar, The Police, kicked off its summer reunion with a performance at The Grammy Awards last month. The band is slated to play July 2 in St. Louis and July 3 in St. Paul. The band does not have a scheduled date after that until July 10 in Miami, which would make a Milwaukee and/or Chicago date likely. It's likely the band will do two shows at Wrigley Field during that time, but a Summerfest gig seems unlikely at this point.

According to Pollstar.com, a Web site that covers the concert industry, and other sites, the following bands are playing Summerfest this year:

June 28 -- Phil Vassar
June 30 -- The Fray
July 2 - Heart; Roger Waters
July 3 - Foreigner
July 4 - The four original members of Asia
July 5 - Umphrey's McGee
July 8 - Toby Keith
