Instead of seeing your kid bite the head off a chocolate bunny this Easter, how about watching him play with a soft, cuddly one that won't result in a giraffe-sized sugar buzz?

According to Time magazine, Real Simple and Mequon's Robin Lehnert -- owner of Dot's Toys -- Foo Foo and Super Foo Bunnies are the "it" Easter toys of the season.

Made in Portland, the entire litter of Foo Foo Bunnies have a simple set of whiskers, eyes and nose embroidered on their face and crocheted flower buttons. They are 24 inches tall from the tips of their long ears to the tips of their toes.

The all-cotton chenille version comes in bright red or egg-yolk yellow and light pink, and an off-white bunny is covered with synthetic lamb's wool.

"This is a step in the right direction," says Anne Fielder, a Milwaukee mom. "It's nice to buy plastic-free toys that look and feel homemade. Especially when you don't have time to sew."

The price, however, might bop ya on the head: $32 for the small and $39.95 for the "Super Foo" seems a tad steep for crafty creations that sell for much less at independant shops and DIY fairs.

"I am always on the lookout for unique items for my customers," says Robin Lehnert, owner of Dot's Toys in Mequon. "I think the design and materials will really appeal to gift givers, parents and their children."

Dot's Toys is a traveling toy boutique offering unique, high-quality products, owned by John and Robin Lehnert.

Dot's Toys Web site is dotstoys.com. Foo Foo Bunnies are also available at Bark River Kids, 808 Genesee St., in Delafield.
