The band disappeared just long enough for us to temporarily forget how just how great a song "Take Me Out" was when it introduced us to Scotland's Franz Ferdinand back in 2004.
"You Could Have It So Much Better" quickly followed in 2005, but if you want to find out what the band's been up to the last three years, you best dust off your dancing shoes. The band's third studio album, "Tonight: Franz Ferdinand," released Jan. 27, reminds us why we all paid so much attention to this Glasgow export in the first place.
Franz is as energized as ever as it heads out on a six-month tour that takes the dapper dudes across Europe with a brief jaunt to the States this spring. After a spot at Coachella Music Festival, the band heads to Milwaukee to play at The Eagles Ballroom on Wednesday, April 29 at 8 p.m.
General Admission are $26.50 and VIP tickets are $31.50. Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com, The Eagles Club box office, or call 414-342-RAVE.
OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.
As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
