Leash up your furry besties because it’s almost Petfest time, Milwaukee. After a year hiatus, Fromm Petfest is back, furrier and fetchier and friendlier then ever.

The event, which usually attracts thousands of pet lovers and their four-legged pals to Milwaukee’s lakefront, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Henry Maier Festival Park. Admission is free.

"Every year we look forward to organizing this family-friendly event to celebrate our four-legged family members and are more committed than ever to making sure we provide a safe and fun experience for festival attendees,” said Bryan Nieman, Brand Director and fifth-generation family member for Fromm Family Foods.

At this year’s Petfest, challenge your pup with a doggie dash, dock diving and lure or agility courses. There’s also a “Crunch Zone” with carnival games, free samples of Fromm food and a photo station. Plus, two-legged attendees will appreciate a Kids Zone, a bier garden / dog park and a “Lap Dog Lounge” located in shaded area of the festival grounds with dog beds and human loungers.

FromPetfest also offers two large shopping areas as well as live music from Just Dave (10 a.m.), The Herget Brothers (noon), Front Porch Rockers (3:30) and members from the band Hammer and Nail (4 p.m.)

Human food will be available from Pizza Man, Chubby’s Cheesesteaks, Cedar Crest, Sil’s Mini Donuts, Fazio’s Popcorn, Little Sweetie’s, Bobalou Lemon Chill, Catalano Lemonade and Produce, Streetza food truck, Cousins subs and Pete’s Pops.

There’s also two contests on deck: a costume contest and a people/pets look-a-like contest. Each offer a top prize of a six-month supply of Fromm food. To find out more and / or register, go here

Plus, parking is free and there will be plenty of watering stations for your pet's lapping pleasure.

Be sure your pet is vaccinated and in the mood for mingling before attending. All Fromm Petfest attendees will be required to have a human sign a waiver confirming that their pet(s) are up-to-date on all vaccinations and are prepared to behave respectfully. Waivers will be available at the Mid and South Gate entrances to the festival park or can be downloaded here.

"The safety of our guests (human and pet, alike) is paramount," reads the website

Fromm Petfood is a fifth-generation family-owned, Mequon-based company. Since 1904, the Fromm family has been dedicated to the health and nutrition of animals, and in the 1930s, developed the first canine distemper vaccine.

In 1949, they introduced the concept of premium pet food by pioneering the process of cooking meat and grain together to create the dry kibble food that is popular today with pets in Wisconsin and well beyond.

Today, the growing line of foods now includes kibble, canned diets and treats, all manufactured at family-owned and operated facilities in Wisconsin. From the very beginning and into the future, Fromm is committed to their tradition of innovation while staying firmly rooted in their home state.

"After a year’s hiatus, we’re thrilled to return to Henry Maier Festival Park with Petfest and give back to the pets and families who call Wisconsin home," says Nieman.
