The Future Milwaukee Leadership Program is accepting applications through Saturday, June 30, for its 2012-13 class.

Sessions begin in September and run through May 2013, primarily from 6 to 9 p.m., twice each month on Monday evenings. Tuition for the 24-session program is $1,800, with limited financial aid available. Applications are available here.

"Future Milwaukee participants will explore the leadership within our community through sessions with key decision-makers in business, nonprofit and government," said Ron Kuramoto, director of Future Milwaukee. "We provide a unique, first-hand understanding of how Milwaukee really works – and can work better in the future."

Each year, Future Milwaukee participants work in teams with area nonprofit organizations on major projects, ranging from fundraising initiatives to comprehensive marketing communication plans. Examples of class projects are available online.

Since 1978, Future Milwaukee, which since 2005 has been housed in Marquette University's College of Professional Studies, has been building a diverse group of ethically based leaders among all sectors of the Milwaukee community. To date, there are more than 1,400 Future Milwaukee graduates who serve as leaders in business, nonprofit, government and community organizations throughout the region.

"My experience with Future Milwaukee has given me a deeper appreciation of what is possible through passion driven by collaboration and relationships across sectors," said Future Milwaukee alumna Kate Lundeen, executive director of Admission Possible – Greater Milwaukee.

"With my Future Milwaukee projects I sat at the intersection of some of the most creative and innovative partnerships happening in Milwaukee."
