The Greater Together Coalition is a newly assembled volunteer group led by AIGA Wisconsin (American Institute of Graphic Arts), supported by NEWaukee and comprising a variety of local organizations and groups. AIGA encourages designers to get involved in community problems and one of the group’s main focuses is on race relations in the city.

In July, the group announced The Greater Together Challenge, a competition launched to create awareness, hope and ideas to dismantle segregation, as well as address racial and economic inequality in greater Milwaukee.

Approximately 130 ideas were submitted and 15 finalists were chosen.

On Monday, Oct. 13, the finalists will present their concepts at The Greater Together Challenge at Turner Hall, 1034 N. 4th St., at 7 p.m. The event is free.

The finalists will have four minutes each to share an idea with the audience, civic leaders, advocates and experts. The winner will receive $5,000 and move to the next phase.

Each member of the audience will vote for the idea that they think is the best. After the presentations, there will be a celebration with music by Brothers By Choice and an opportunity for idea sharing.
