There seems to be a socially acceptable age window for reveling in the good old-fashioned, candy-and-eggs fun of Easter. Much like Halloween, it's something people grow out of, then eventually enjoy vicariously through their own kids.
Luckily, there are plenty of Milwaukeeans who feel that "acting your age" is overrated and stuffy. Proving that some kid stuff never goes out of style, Milwaukee BID #21 has put a grown-up spin on the traditional Easter egg hunt for all you 9-to-5ers Downtown.
Get a band of co-workers together during your lunch breaks Monday, April 18 through Wednesday, April 20 and relive a little during the Grown-Up Easter Egg Hunt.
Public Service Ambassadors will hand out eggs at currently undisclosed locations around Downtown between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. each day. For exact spots, eager egg hunters should stay tuned to Milwaukee Downtown's Facebook and Twitter accounts for day-of announcements.
Each giveaway will hand out 1,000 eggs, which contain a coupon for a free McDonald's menu item and a raffle ticket for the grand "egg-stravaganza" in Cathedral Square Park on Thursday, April 21. There, you can turn in your tickets for a chance to win one of more than 35 prizes, including gifts and certificates from Downtown-area restaurants, hotels, spas and boutiques. One lucky bunny will even take home the grand prize "golden egg."
Tickets must be redeemed on Thursday by 12:10 p.m. in order to win a prize, but getting there early has its benefits, too. A Rabbit Relay egg passing game and Chick-a-Boom egg toss will start at noon, and yes, there are even more prizes to be had for the winners. Too busy early in the week to hunt down your eggs? You can still drop by for fun and games, plus get entered in the second-chance drawing for other small prizes.
Yeah, it's not a lifetime supply of chocolate bunnies, but if you think about it, opting out of basket full of pastel foil-wrapped sugar bombs to get some fresh air and the chance to win cool downtown swag is a pretty nice trade.
