We all love a good happy hour. But when was the last time you hit up a happy hour not for a cocktail or beer, but for the food?

Here are five you should try.

Bosley's on Brady
815 E. Brady St., (414) 727-7975
bosleyonbrady.com

I almost don't want to share this one. But apparently a lot of you already know about it, since an empty seat at this Brady Street happy hour is rare. And why wouldn't it packed when you get amazing appetizers priced from $4 to $7, and pretty much the entire bar is 50 percent off. Dangerous, but oh so good!

Harbor House
550 N. Harbor Dr., (414) 395-4500
harborhousemke.com

Why should you go to Harbor House other than the gorgeous view, which is one of the best in Milwaukee? The happy hour, of course. Start it out with $5 wines, $4 beers and $6 cocktails Monday-Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. But the food is reason.  You need to go for THE FOOD! 89-cent oysters? Yes, I said 89 cents. Peel and eat shrimp? Garlic parmesan french fries? OK. Who's hungry?

Ugly's Pub
1125 N. Old World Third St.,
(414) 763-3852
uglyspub.com

Ugly's Pub is a relative newcomer to Downtown Milwaukee, and already one of my favorites. Molly gave you the scoop on it when they opened and you can read that here. Ugly's happy hour includes $3 taps, 1/2 off appetizers, and two for one on mixers and wine. During a recent visit I was told these same specials also are available during Packers games.  Score!  The food, which includes truffle fries, chicken drummies and Kobe sliders, is not to be ignored during this new "ish"  happy hour.

Ginger
235 S. 2nd St., (414) 220-9420
gingermilwaukee.com

Ginger, just south of Downtown in Walker's Point, offers a delicious steal during its happy hour that runs Wednesday-Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.. Molly's recent story on Ginger and Stonefly Brewery (which have the same ownership) is here. $3 is the magic number at Ginger. $3 select wine, tapas and beer.  It's delicious. See you there soon.

Centro Cafe
808 E. Center St.,
(414) 455-3751
centrocaferiverwest.com

Centro Cafe, in Riverwest, runs its happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Get the $8.08 E. Center Special, a 1/2 pizza and small salad for $8 and two mix or match selected wines, bottled beers or rails for $8, as well. The small back bar of the adorable Centro can get packed for this great "mini dinner" happy hour, so get there early to score yourself a table.

Hope to see you at a Milwaukee happy hour soon!

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
