The Historic Downer Avenue Business Improvement District will once again host the annual Haunted Halloween on Downer Avenue on Sat., Oct. 19. The not-so-spooky event runs from 1 to 4 p.m.

Activities include face painting outside of Nehring’s Sendik’s as well as inside of Bel Air Cantina; balloon creations by Just 4 Fun; a pumpkin carving contest at numrous businesses on the block and free chocolate chip cookies from Breadsmith.

Plus, Boswell Book Co. will host Silvia Acevedo, contributor to "The Haunted States of America" at 2 p.m.and Geo Rutherford, author of "Spooky Lakes: 25 Strange and Mysterious Lakes That Dot Our Planet," at 3 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to dress in costume and trick or treat at participating shops. For more information, go here.
