Yes, it's been a pretty cool summer so far in Milwaukee, but that's not what we're talking about when present this month's heat index.

In this regular feature, we're being figurative about what's hot and what's not. The sizzling Brewers, for example, are sitting atop the NL Central. And State Fair is on!

On the other end of the thermometer, we have political attack ads beginning to show up, both on the local and state level. Folks, it's gonna get ugly. Fast.

So here's our take on the temperature this month. Let us know what what you think!

Sizzling:
Brewers – In first place. All season long.

Hot:
State Fair – Eat it up. On a stick.
Milwaukee Film Festival New theater added.
Traveling beer garden – Another great public-private project.

Warm:
Gay marriage hiatus – The genie is out of the bottle. Deal with it.
Potawatomi Hotel – Cool addition to the skyline.
New taxi rules – Paves the way for legal Uber, Lyft.

Cool:
Hoan Construction – Not too bad. Yet.
Packers training camp – The beginning of the end of summer.
David Clarke for mayor – Unlikely.

Cold:
Bob Donovan for mayor – No chance.
Another invasive lake species – Ugh.

Sub-zero:
Cold summer – Feels like fall.
Political attack ads – Here we go again.
