The Brewers, a team in desperate need of good news on the pitching front, got a small dose today.

Right-hander Rick Helling, who been shut down since mid-April due to an elbow problem, threw three innings during a game at extended spring training and reported no problems.

Helling gave up a run and two hits, including a homer, in a 36-pitch effort. He also struck out three batters. Helling will return to the mound on Monday in Arizona, which happens to be where he makes his off-season home.
