After less than five years, Hom Wood Fired Grill in the Bayshore Town Center will close this month, with Sunday, Jan. 13 serving as its final day of business operations.

SURG Restaurant Group opened the Wisconsin-themed farm-to-table restaurant in July of 2014, the second location after the original Hom opened the year prior in SURG's former 8-Twelve space in Brookfield. SURG closed that first location in 2016; now this Bayshore spot has followed suit, choosing not to renew its five-year lease "with goals to focus on SURG's Downtown venues," according to a press release.

Today's announcement marks the second restaurant closing for the SURG Restaurant Group this short year, shutting the doors last week on Mikey's after more than a decade in Cathedral Square.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
