Construction has begun on the new location for Hue Restaurant, which is expected to open as soon as this fall.

Owners Cat Tran and Mark Nielsen purchased the former Sven’s Cafe property in 2019, and announced today that they will be transforming the former coffee shop property into a new home base which will house both the restaurant and a commercial kitchen space for Hue’s Asian Kitchen food truck and SquareMeal, the brand’s frozen ready-to-cook meal service.

During construction, the former cafe will be expanded to include a two story addition on the front portion of the existing building, which will house three studio apartments. The lower level will feature a larger kitchen, an expanded dining room and patio seating on the corner of Kinnickinnic and Logan Avenues.

The building, designed by Linville Architects of Madison will be brought to life with the help of One Source Construction of Brookfield.

Hue will remain open, operating out of their decade-long location at 2691 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. until construction is completed.
