And then there was one…
With Summerfest all but over, the festival saved one of the best for last as Imagine Dragons closed out the AmFam Amp on Saturday night, capping off a memorable three weekends at the Big Gig in 2023. If Smash Mouth didn’t make fans a “believer” with their Summerfest performance days ago, Dan Reynolds and company surely did with the band’s high energy set, filled with confetti, hit singles and of course thousands of screaming fans.
Check out some of our favorite images from Imagine Dragons’ Saturday night performance that put an exclamation mark on this year’s Summerfest:
1. Danny boy
It’s hard to find a better frontman than Dan Reynolds. The Las Vegas singer-songwriter seems to never run out of energy, and with the way he runs from stage right to stage left to keep the entire crowd engaged during his performances, it’s no wonder why he’s in such great shape.
2. Confetti for all
Confetti is proof that literally even the small things in life can make you happy – and Saturday’s headlining set had no shortage of confetti or happiness. Not seeing the need to wait until the last song, confetti was flying through the air practically the moment the band hit the stage.
3. Topping 2018
Imagine Dragons are no strangers to Summerfest. After performing at the Miller Lite Oasis in 2013 and rocking the amphitheater just a few years ago in 2018, the band set high expectations for its Saturday night performance. Fortunately for those in attendance, the “Radioactive” pop rock band delivered and then some.
4. Another sell-out
Following Zach Bryan’s sold-out performance on Friday, Imagine Dragons added another sold-out show at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater to Summerfest’s 2023 resume.
5. Quick as mercury
Still performing in support of their 2021-2022 two-part album, “Mercury - Acts 1 & 2," Imagine Dragons didn’t give too much focus to their new music. Rather, they selected a few standouts from the project while focusing on their entire discography for Saturday night’s set.
6. Wayne’s world
Dan Reynolds can do a lot, but he definitely can’t do it all. But with the rest of the band’s talented cast – including lead guitarist Wayne Sermon – the collective put on an amazing show for their Milwaukee fans yet again.
7. “On Top of the World”
It’s very fitting that the “On Top of the World” band closed out another great Summerfest. As one of the biggest acts in music, who can fill arenas, stadiums and amphitheaters alike, Imagine Dragons were a no-brainer for the festival’s impressive lineup this year.
