Fresh off of a day-of announced show at High Noon Saloon in Madison and a nightcap at The Vanguard, Jack White is staying in Milwaukee for a couple of nights.

Jack White, for the most part, does not do conventional. So it was really on brand earlier this summer, when he announced that he couldn’t announce a new tour, because well, it was already happening

“Lotta folk asking about when we are going to announce ‘tour dates,’ well, we don’t know what to tell you but the tour already started at the Legion a couple of weeks ago.” he wrote on Instagram on August 13th, referring to a show at Nashville’s American Legion Post 82. Game on.

White began touring small clubs throughout the country in support of his new record, “No Name,” which was also a surprise release, given out to fans at his Third Man Records store in Nashville, as well as London and Detroit before hitting streaming services. So far, most of the shows have been announced in sets of two or three, and his most recent announcement now includes Milwaukee’s Cactus Club, where he’ll play on Friday night and Saturday at The Rave.

Proceeds from Friday night's show will benefit the Cactus Club accessibility initiative, aimed at making the 140 year old building that houses the club available for artists and music fans of all abilities. You can find out more about the initiative here.

In order to purchase tickets for either show, you'll need to register for a code via ticketing service Laylo.

If you didn’t know, White has a special connection with the Bay View club. The White Stripes’ first show outside of their home state of Michigan took place in 1999, when they opened for The Mistreaters at their record release show. That formed a friendship with Chris Schulist of The Vanguard, WMSE, and most recently, Wiggle Room, and featured an infamous vinyl “flyer” for the show designed by Eric Von Munz that still hangs in the club to this day. So it makes sense that White would want to return to the club for a special show.

If you can’t make it into Friday night’s show or Saturday's gig at The Rave, there’s still plenty of great live music happening around Milwaukee this weekend. Make sure to check out OnMilwaukee’s monthly music guide to see who else is hitting Milwaukee’s stages.
