Downtown Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub, located at The Brewhouse Inn & Suites, 1203 N. 10th St., will close permanently after this weekend.

The bar and restaurant, which opened its doors back in May of 2013, will mark its final day of business after service on Sunday, Sept. 6.

Owner Mark Zierath, who also co-owns The Red Mill Inn and Von Trier, made the announcement on Facebook Thursday afternoon.

"(The customers) have made this such a special place over the years," he writes in the post. "I have made so many amazing friendships and consider myself to be truly blessed. I couldn’t even recall all of the weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, reunions, birthday parties, holiday parties ... so many memories were made in this space. So many relationships were started! Too many people to thank!

"I will miss this place a lot. I truly believe it is one of the nicest bar/restaurant facilities in all of Downtown Milwaukee. This building is nothing short of spectacular! But in the end I am just not able to sustain."

Jackson's is planning to go out with a bang, though, with several special events throughout the weekend, including live music from Chaz Band Duo on Saturday night and Jon Rouse on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m.

Note: Jackson's Blue Ribbon Pub location in Tosa is still open, and the upcoming Jackson's in West Milwaukee is still en route to open sometime soon. Those locations are owned by Dan Zierath of Zierath Restaurant Group, who also operates Thirsty Duck and Zisters.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
