This morning I saw a beautiful blazing orange sun rising in the eastern sky, its warming rays reflected in a brilliant column of light on the icy lake.
Seeing the juxtaposition of the sun and the ice got me thinking about the weather.
So, I checked the long-range forecasts on both Weather.com and Accuweather.com today and I liked what I found. I know it's bunk and that they can't accurately forecast 10 and 15 days out, but the it makes me happy anyway.
Accuweather is willing to lay it on the line and predict the weather for the next 15 days. That is, through Jan. 27. Seven of those days are predicted to be sunny and another 7 to have precipitation. One is listed as cloudy.
But, best of all, not a single one of the 15 days has a high temperature at freezing or below. Six are predicted to be 40 or above and five are expected to reach 39 degrees.
Weather.com, perhaps more realistically, is only ready to go 10 days out; that is, through Jan. 22. Six of the 10 will be sunny and four will have precipitation according to the site.
Weather.com is less optimistic about the temps however, with highs only in the 30s during the period. But, still, only one of the 10 days has a high as low as 32.
It ain't summer, but, you know what? I'll take it, thank you very much. Here's hoping they're right!
