When singer / songwriter Daniel Johnston brings his solo act to the Turner Ballroom on Thursday, Feb. 7, throngs of Milwaukee fans will likely show up for what promises to be an interesting and engaging evening of indie rock.
The cool part is that some of them will play music of their own. Turner has booked Milwaukee musician John Sieger and his band, The Subcontinentals, to open the show along with local end-timey troupe, The Scarring Party.
The Subcontinentals features Sieger, his brother Mike, drummer Jon Carr and singer Kelli Gonzales, is billed as a "retro-soul band, heavy on the harmonies."
The Scarring Party, of course, sounds straight out of The Great Depression.
