Last March, OnMilwaukee announced the opening of a new agave spirits bar called La Piña. It opened at 1801 S. 3rd St. in the former home of Triskele's bar and restaurant.
The goal of owner Patrick Todd and crew was to put Milwaukee on the map of top spots to enjoy agave spirits – as well as to educate customers about the origin and full potential of the beverages.
La Piña – with a menu of 40+ tequilas and dozens of different kinds of mezcal – met their goal. The bar received national attention from Yahoo news and for the first time Wisconsin was ranked in the top 20 states that consume the most tequila.
InSideHook also named La Piña one of the best tequila bars in the country, acknowledging its "healthy mezcal selection" and "knowledgeable bartenders who can help you find something nice to sip on or whip up a cocktail for you." Check out the full list here.
Wanna give La Piña a try? Throughout the month of January, La Piña has a special Happy Hour with $2 off all cocktails. There are also a couple of happenings coming up in the near future:
- "La Piña To Go" Launching. As of Tuesday, Jan. 16, La Piña will offer margarita kits, margaritas to go, gifts cards, merchandise, flight boards, glassware and bottles of tequila via their virtual liquor store and gift shop. Customers can buy online and then pick up at the bar.
- What’s Quackin? DJ Uncle Drew’s Duck Rave. The weekend of Jan. 20-21 features a "rubber-ducky-themed" night with house music, duck-themed cocktails, a photo booth and duck swag. This event is free to the public and includes a free duck gift.
