Formed by Milwaukee staples Phantom Channel (Adam James) and LMNtlyst (Brandon Birchbauer), the Lab Partners started out as merely an experiment in music.
After more than 150 songs written and recorded at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music, it dawned on them that they might have something substantial.
With Phantom Channel's live drumming and LMNtylst's wide-range of instrumentation, the Lab Partners created an organic sound that's been a recent hot track on Milwaukee's progressively growing Independent radio scene.
At first, their self-titled debut CD takes listeners down a 30-second path of solid Milwaukee Hip-Hop flow. Within a minute you're traveling down a new road of melodic and uncategorized sound.
This sonic evolution is the result of one of Milwaukee's most prolific producers LMNtlyst and the evolving musicianship of Rusty Ps Co-MC Phantom Channel. Sprinkled with radio friendly hooks "The Lab Partners" keeps listeners on their toes with a hypnotic undertone that grows your curiosity from track to track. With a career worth of material in the vault one must wonder, what journey will the Lab Partners take us on next.
On this edition of "Sound Pass" the Lab Partners talk about their inception and how free styling played a huge part in creating a unprecedented body of work. Mindpool Live presents, The Lab Partners.
Josh, along with Mindpool Live Producer Ryan Schaber, focus on the production of high-quality video vignettes that present some of the most intriguing bands in Milwaukee and the world.
