Salt water taffy is one of the great enduring treats of summer, whether you’re on the Jersey Shore, Myrtle Beach or the sandy beaches of California.
But here in the Upper Midwest, where we sit adjacent to more than one-fifth of the earth’s freshwater, why aren’t we enjoying lake water taffy?
Thanks to the folks at Leinenkugel’s, we now can.
Leinenkugel’s Lakewater Taffy, made with partner Taffy Kitchen in Frankenmuth, Michigan, matches lemonade and malt flavors into a chewy treat that’s made with water from Lake Huron and Lake Superior, via the good folks at the Frankenmuth city water filtration department.
The water was confirmed safe for consumption following standard water treatment practices by the Michigan Water Filtration Department.
You can purchase Leinenkugel’s Lakewater Taffy beginning Monday, Aug. 26 online at freshtaffy.com/leinieslakewater.
You must be 21 and over to order. Twelve-packs (naturally) cost $5.99 plus shipping and handling.
Twelve-packs of Leinie’s Summer Shandy beer are available everywhere Leinie’s is sold, of course.
