It's gallery night weekend here in Milwaukee, but that's no reason to skip out on seeing your favorite local bands. With only three featured bands, Brent and I have a slightly shorter Local Music Podcast this week, but we promise, what we lack in quantity we more than make up for in quality.

All three bands we feature this week are playing shows on Saturday, April 21, so choose carefully and wisely when planning your evening. We kick things off with Jail, who, prior to its Saturday night gig at Bar Lulu with The Candliers is playing Thursday, April 19 at Stonefly with Casper and the Cookies (ex-Of Montreal). Enjoy "First to Pinch" off 2006's "Kept Me Spitting."

The Danger released "A Northern City Shift" in 2006 and although songs like "Way Too Fast" are still bitchin', we're pretty sure the band's got some new material to share with you when it plays Saturday night at The Mad Planet with Holy Mary Motor Club and Lost in a Name.

The Danglers wrap up the podcast with an eight-minute live at WMSE track called "Resolute." Catch the band live at Linneman's Riverwest Inn on Saturday with the Chop Top Toronados.

Until next week music lovers...

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
