The week between Christmas and New Year's Eve is always jam-packed with stuff to do and people to see, so we won't take up too much of your time telling you about what's happening this weekend.

Here's the abridged run-down on local music.

Chief, Revolush and The Buggs are a rock trio force to be reckoned with. The three bands take the Stonefly Brewing Co. stage on Friday, Dec. 28.

Get your holiday blues fix at the Up and Under Pub on Saturday, Dec. 29 with the Delta Routine and the Bryan Cherry Band.

The Candliers take on the Cactus Club Friday night with John the Savage.

The next night welcomes The Celebrated Workingman back to the Cactus -- and some members back to Milwaukee -- to play a show with Big Fun and The Vulgarians.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
