Starting Fri., Jan. 3, Luckystar, 207 E. Buffalo St., kicks off the New Year with two exhibits simultaneously: the photography of Mark Cherek and the debut of "Bastardos Magnifico."

Chicago photographer, former "Jenny Jones" camera man and one time Milwaukee-area scenester, Mark Cherek, documents his years here with candid photos taken from his personal collection.

Also appearing is Bastardo's Magnifico, a collection of work from a supergroup of Milwaukee artists, including Jesus Ali, Gene Evans, Steve Schraenkler, Jimmy Von Milwaukee and Von Munz.

Opening Reception is set for Fri., Jan. 17 with food by Tough Guy Catering and live music by Rob Seiser. This event is sponsored in part by Harbor City Brewing Co.

Also look for a special appearance from the Bastardos Magnifico's Von Munz and Gene Evans at the Hi-Hat Garage, Brady St. and Arlington Ave., as they spin some of their favorite records as part of the Civic series on Wed., Jan. 29 from 9 p.m. to 1a.m.
