Since 2007, Maxie’s has been serving up a menu of Lowcountry Southern comfort food at 6732 W. Fairview Ave. on Milwaukee’s West Side. For many years, they were also among just a few select restaurants that served up freshly shucked oysters on the half shell.

Nearly two decades later, much has changed. But Maxie’s is still shucking some of the best oysters in the city. Even better, they’re offering them for just $1 each during Milwaukee’s Happiest Happy Hour, which takes place Monday through Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m.

But that’s not all. They also offer up $9 appetizers and “Buck Off!” drinks including beer, wine and cocktails.

That means $9 for your choice of fried green tomatoes with housemade remoulade; a half pound of PEI mussels cooked with country ham, smoked tomato and lemon pan sauce; a quarter pound of peel-N-eat shrimp; Kentucky Nuggets (fried chicken nuggets served with Comeback sauce); Creole chicken meatballs in creamy Creole rose sauce with grilled bread; and bowls of Maxie’s Mighty Mighty Gumbo with chicken, andouille and crawfish.

Squad Happy Hour

What’s even happier than Milwaukee’s Happiest Happy Hour? A Milwaukee’s Happiest Happy Hour with the OnMilwaukee Squad! Squad members are some of the nicest folks in the city. They love food, socializing and supporting locally owned businesses.

We’ll be hosting a very special squad happy hour at Maxie’s on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. Squad members will be invited via email to enjoy tasty appetizers, great company and a chef talk with OnMilwaukee Dining Editor Lori Fredrich and Maxie's Co-Owner and Chef Joe Muench.

Want to join us? Just join the Squad!  We’d love to see your face at Maxie’s. Plus, Squad membership gives you access to monthly events including dining excursions, tavern tours, private spelunks, exclusive giveaways and more!

Your membership not only pays for itself, it supports the work we do at OnMilwaukee every day.
