It’s been a tradition for McBob’s to open with free breakfast every year on St. Patrick’s Day.
But this year, owners Katy Klinnert and Sara McConville, are taking things up a notch with an extended celebration that will raise money for three local non-profit organizations.
“Based on the placement of St. Patrick’s Day on a Monday this year, we really saw the opportunity to extend the holiday,” notes Klinnert. “We’re not just here to serve green beer and Irish whiskey; we’re here to play a larger part in our community and do the most good that we can.”
So, rather than offering just one free breakfast, McBob’s will be hosting a “Pay as You May” breakfast buffet from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, Sunday, March 16 and Monday March 17.
Each day the buffet will feature a variety of breakfast items from meats and potatoes to sweet dishes and fruit. Guests will also have the option of ordering from the regular menu (e.g. corned beef, Reuben sandwiches). There will also be live music during breakfast.
Even better, the “pay as you” may breakfast will benefit a different organization each day, with all donations matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous donor in the community.
- Saturday’s breakfast will benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center, the largest nonprofit provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin. Guests can enjoy live music from Frogwater.
- Sunday’s breakfast will benefit animal rescue organizations Haws and Secondhand Purrs. Volunteers from the Hurling Club of Milwaukee will serve breakfast.
- Monday’s breakfast will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Breadsmith will provide pastries and volunteers from Badger Liquor will serve breakfast. Guests can enjoy live music from TaDah.
And there's more
As usual, McBob’s will be the place to be throughout St. Patrick’s Day weekend. In addition to the special community breakfasts, guests can stop in for:
Thursday: St. Patrick's Day Weekend Kick-off Party
Friday: 6 to 9 p.m. Jim & Mike LIVE
Sunday: Dirty Boogie Live from 5-8 p.m.
Monday: noon to 4 p.m. The Rhythm Kings
5 p.m. Big Spoon
