Since 1875, Milwaukee Firefighters have protected the lives and property of the citizens in the City of Milwaukee, and have given their lives in the line of duty. There is a monument placed outside of the MFD headquarters dedicated to the fallen firefighters of the Milwaukee Fire Department, which shows our appreciation for their sacrifice and courage.

The central focus of the monument is a sculpture produced by renowned fire artist Robert Daus. The statue depicts a helmet, coat, and boots, arranged for the funeral procession of a fallen firefighter. It sits on top of a black granite pedestal with the names of the Milwaukee firefighters who have died in the line of duty and sacrificed their lives for the community. It not only symbolizes the fallen firefighter, but also the loss felt by family, friends, and fellow firefighters.

A ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at a.m. to remember the fallen firefighters of the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Mayor Tom Barrett, Chief Mark Rohlfing, and Local 215 President Dave Seager will speak at the memorial to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
