The coronavirus pandemic has changed our everyday life, but it doesn't need to change who we are. So, in addition to our ongoing coverage of the coronavirus, OnMilwaukee will continue to report on cool, fun, inspiring and strange stories from our city and beyond. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay informed and stay joyful. We're all in this together. #InThisTogetherMKE
This time of year is normally the beginning of a long and loving wedding season, however due to the pandemic, more than half of Americans who planned on getting married in 2020 are trying to change their wedding date.
Miller High Life wants to bring a little bit of joy and excitement to the disappointment felt due to postponed nuptials with the new "Wedding at Your Doorstep" promotion. Through this offer, three couples will win a social-distancing-approved wedding at their homes – plus $10,000 they can use to pay for their honeymoon, cancellation costs, and, of course, beer.
Miller High Life will provide winning couples with a licensed officiant, photographer and food. It will also handle logistics and coordinate a video call allowing family and friends to join in.
"We’ll work with the couple to make sure the day is as close to what they envisioned as possible," Lucy Bloxam, associate marketing manager for Miller High Life says, adding that safety is the top concern. "We will follow local social distancing guidelines."
Winning couples will be able to toast their newly minted marriage status with Miller High Life’s limited-edition Champagne coupe cans, which will be available nationwide starting mid-May.
To enter, couples should email a description of 150 words or less of how their wedding plans have changed in 2020, and how they still plan to celebrate with Miller High Life.
Entries should be sent to marryme@millerhighlife.com, and include a photo of the couple, their ages and their state of residence. The contest runs through May 1, and winners will be announced May 5.
"As the Champagne of Beers, Miller High Life has a long history of being the Champagne for everyday life, and a proud part of weddings and celebrations. This was the inspiration for our new Champagne coupe cans, and now in this new era of wedding delays and cancellations, our way of bringing something positive to couples who are dealing with the stress of changing plans," says Bloxam.
Couples must be age 21 or over with a valid marriage license. They must be available for a doorstep wedding ceremony by June 30. The contest is valid in all U.S. states, except Alabama, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Vermont and West Virginia.
