The Milwaukee Film Festival’s Opening Night Party is Thursday, Sept. 26 from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Discovery World.

The main event at the party is the Milwaukee debut of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, a Chicago-born, but New York-based brass band, comprising jazz trumpeter Phil Cohran’s eight sons.

This year’s party will also feature performances by guitarist Evan Christian, WMSE's DJ Bizzon, members of the Florentine Opera, Dead Man’s Carnival, 88Nine DJ Madhatter and visuals from Video Villains.

Party-goers will enjoy two free drinks, light appetizers, popcorn and a have a chance to win coveted raffle prizes like an annual Milwaukee Film Membership at the Film Director level (which includes a 2013 festival pass and six-pack of vouchers), $500 worth of gift cards courtesy of the MOJOFUCO restaurant group (Bel Air Cantina, Balzac, Fuel Café, The Garage, Hi-Hat, etc.) and a Packers party for 30 at Maxie’s Restaurant.

For the second year, Milwaukee Film is also offering a chance for interested party-goers to enjoy the newly named Red Carpet Experience that includes valet parking at both the Oriental Theater for the film and at Discovery World for the party.

Red Carpet attendees will have access to a private area at Discovery World, featuring delicious hors d’oeuvres and an open bar, as well as a special silent auction with all proceeds benefiting Milwaukee Film.

The opening night party is $35 for the public; $25 for members. It’s free with a festival pass. An opening night film and party combo is $50 for the public; $40 for members or free with a festival pass. A $200 package includes valet parking and tickets for the film and party, along with reserved seating on opening night.

The 2013 Milwaukee Film Festival runs Sept. 26-Oct. 10. Tickets go on sale starting Sept. 11 for members and Sept. 12 for the general public.
