With the end of the year upon us, the desire to finish strong has hit several Milwaukee hip-hop artists.
Last week, to keep up his seemingly constant flow of content, the very visible Prophetic released a new music video for his song "Living in the Sky" (which can be found on his most recent mixtape) in collaboration with a gang of folks over a MIAD. The video is actually artsy and has taken Milwaukee hip-hop's music video game to a new level of conceptual creativity.
Looking back on things, Milwaukee hip-hop really has had a great year music video wise, which built upon the fantastic videos 2009 gave us. I can't wait to see what people do in 2011 as the medium of anything visual continues to show itself as the way to achieve one's dreams and goals.
Anyway, here's the video.
AND, since it's the holiday season and good cheer abounds, I'd like to provide for you a bonus video by Madison emcee, Emcee Starr. He is a member of the group The Fall Guys, and he recently gave the world a very nice and colorful video for his track "Thru The Light."
Look him up, and Madison hip-hop in general. If Milwaukee and Madison could find a way to collaborate in really solid ways, I think something really positive could come out of it for both scenes ... but hey, I'm a dreamer.
Born in Milwaukee and raised in the Milwaukee suburb of Brown Deer, Concordia University Wisconsin alumnus Poppe has spent the majority of his life in or around the city and county of Milwaukee.
As an advocate of Milwaukee's hip-hop community Poppe began popular local music blog Milwaukee UP in March 2010. Check out the archived entries here.
Though heavy on the hip-hop, Poppe writes about other genres of music and occasionally about food, culture or sports, and is always ready to show his pride in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
