Why you can’t miss it

Chrissie Hynde is bringing her gang of post-punk rockers back to her Midwestern roots – and you’d be off your rocker to miss this one. College kids have been fighting over the band's records since the English band released their self-titled debut since 1980.

While some of the faces have changed along the way, Hynde’s continued to front the group with the same cross-Atlantic eclecticism that has garnered popularity from the start.

Song starter pack

The Hit – "I’ll Stand by You"

Who hasn’t cranked this ballad through the car stereo when they’re feeling a little down and out? The 1994 chart-topper should make for a powerful moment at Tuesday’s show. Singing along is required!

The B-side Beauty – "Kid"

This jam represents everything that is great with The Pretenders as they seamlessly meld guitar riffs worthy of the '60s with signature New Wave sounds.

Can’t Wait to See It Live – "Back on the Chain Gang"

With its hooky intro and huge presence, this one will hijack your world this Tuesday night. Hynde wrote the song in memory of late guitarist James Honeyman-Scott passed. Expect it packed with emotion.
