MOD Pizza, 4151 N. Oakland Ave. in Shorewood, has announced that it will open its doors to the public beginning at noon on Friday, May 5.

The opening will be preceded by a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 11:55 a.m. Beginning at noon, MOD will give away free pizza or salad to the first 52 customers to pass through its doors. There will also be a variety of other giveaways all day long, and 100 percent of all pizza sales will be donated to Generosity Feeds, a Virginia-based organization which fights against childhood hunger.

It’s the second Milwaukee area location for MOD, a counter service pizza franchise, which opened its first area location in New Berlin last fall.

Founded in 2008 by Scott and Ally Svenson, creators of Seattle's Best Coffee, MOD is known for its build-your-own pizza (one price for as many toppings as you'd like) which are baked in wood-burning ovens. MOD also serves salad, garlic strips, milkshakes, draft beer and wine.

Beginning Saturday, May 6, MOD’s hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
