Fiserv Forum has announced that the annual Morning Glory Art Fair, which has previously taken place at Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, will move across the river to the live block plaza in front of the new Bucks arena, 1111 Vel R. Phillips Ave., Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The new location in the 80,000-square-foot plaza will allow more artists to participate in the free, juried fair, which debuted 44 years ago. Typically, Morning Glory – which had previously been called Morning Glory Fine Craft Fair – has presented works in ceramics, digital art, jewelry, photography, sculpture and other media by about 130-150 artists in a dozen categories.
The extra space allows the event to include painters for the first time.
"The Morning Glory Art Fair has been a great tradition in Milwaukee for more than 40 years, and we are thrilled to welcome it to the plaza in front of Fiserv Forum," said T.J. Sagen, Fiserv Forum event programming manager, in a news release issued Tuesday.
"Community members will have the opportunity to meet artists from all over the country and to discover beautiful, hand-crafted art."
"We’re excited to bring our expanded Morning Glory Art Fair to a new and energized location that’s quickly established itself as a social and entertainment hub in Milwaukee," added Robert Dickey, president of the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council, the organization that hosts the annual art fair.
"In addition to moving to the plaza in front of Fiserv Forum, we’re now able to include additional talented artists from around the country. Be sure to put Aug. 10 and 11 on your calendar and come check out all the wonderful art that’s available for purchase."
