By logging on to the library's web site, www.mpl.org, and clicking on "Catalog," library patrons can choose the option of renewing their materials.

As an alternative to online renewal, you can also renew materials over the phone by calling (414) 277-0183.

For both methods of remote renewal, patrons will need their valid library card, a personal identification number (PIN) and the barcode numbers of the items to be renewed.

Here's a list of what can be renewed online:

  • Most items checked out for three weeks may be renewed online. The new due date will be three weeks from the day you renew an item.
  • Some libraries allow seven-day items to be renewed online. The new due date will be seven days from the day you renew an item.
  • Items on hold for another patron may not be renewed.
  • Items on loan for three weeks can be renewed as early as seven days before the due date.
  • Items on loan for seven days can be renewed as early as three days before the due date.
  • Overdue items may be renewed, but you will still be charged overdue fines for the period in which the item was overdue.
