Milwaukee School of Engineering will boast Milwaukee's first college varsity rowing team, which takes to the water next autumn.
The team was launched as a result of student interest and start-up funds -- which will also keep the program going for the first five years -- were floated by an anonymous donor.
The Milwaukee Rowing Club has also helped get the program underway. MSOE will use the Rowing Club's award-winning facilities, boats and practice
equipment, as well as tap some of its members' expertise, including
former national team members and Olympians.
The MSOE crew team coach -- who has yet to be named -- also will coach the club's program for high school students.
