After 10 years of service, Nanakusa Japanese Restaurant, 408 E. Chicago St., will close on Tuesday, March 1. For the next two weeks, the restaurant will offer food and drink specials, including wine at a 50 percent discount.

"Though my passion for the cuisine of Japan remains high and I am supported by a staff that I respect and admire, the current economic situation has made it difficult to continue as a viable business,’" says owner Richard Kaiser.

"For those loyal fans of the restaurant, too many to mention by name, but you know who you are, I am truly sorry that I will no longer be able to enjoy welcoming you as guests in the restaurant.  I do hope that you will be able to make it in over the next two weeks so that I can say thank you in person for the support you have shown us in the past."

Nanakusa was the recipient of OnMilwaukee.com’s 2010 Best Japanese Restaurant award.
