The weather's finally warming up, festivals and live music are returning, and people are beginning to gather comfortably once again. Normal ... is almost here. But normal ... is also exhausting. I mean, do you even remember what having plans was like? It was terrible! You had to leave the house and put on pants and everything. If conversations were going poorly or you just wanted to leave, you couldn't just hold still and pretend your Zoom call froze.

Luckily, you don't have to leave if you don't want to, and Netflix -conveniently – has a whole bunch of new movies and TV shows to tempt you into staying and keeping that year-old butt groove on the couch growing. While older films aren't usually what Netflix excels at, for next month, the Big Red Streaming Monolith snached up a bunch of cult favorites and retro hits like "The Big Lebowski," "Stand By Me," "Love Jones," "Streets of Fire" and more. (OK, they're only as old as the '80s – but in our new streaming world, that's as ancient as you can find.)

Plus there's some recent crowd-winning Oscar winners like "Million Dollar Baby" and "Silver Linings Playbook" on the docket as well. And I'm calling it now: "Vampire Academy" will blast up to number one on the Netflix charts and inspire a bunch of critical reappraisals and recclamation pieces in about two and a half weeks.

Of course, the Originals are where Netflix hopes to create the most buzz, and they've got quite a few options that should get people talking – from the newly acquired Kevin Hart dramedy "Fatherhood" to a second season of "Too Hot to Handle" (hopefully this round realizes we're there for fun and not life lessons) to round two with the French heist show "Lupin" to the comic book adaptation "Sweet Tooth" and even a new Liam Neeson action movie. This time, he's a ice road trucker! Wait, didn't he already do that? Hold on, that was "The Grey." Or was it "Cold Pursuit"? Doesn't matter. They're all your dad's favorite movies.

So if you're not ready to get into the world yet, don't worry: Netflix has your back – and your next binge-watch. Because while the outside world might have nice weather, live music, festivals and more, Netflix now has a movie called "Ninja Assasin."  Soooooo ...

Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
