Next Chapter Bookshop, 10976 N. Port Washington Rd., in Mequon, officially closed its doors today.

Bookshop owner Lanora Hurley posted a farewell letter on the Next Chapter website thanking customers for their support.

Off-site events already scheduled by the bookstore at Sanford, Bacchus and The Riverside will go on as planned. Some in-store author events may also be rescheduled to take place at Boswell Books, according to the letter.

The store opened in a former Schwartz Bookshops location when that long-lived independent bookseller closed at the start of 2009.
