Not a pretty performance for the Brewers who came into Game 3 looking to finish off the sweep.

But clinching a trip to the NLCS will have to wait until at least Wednesday after Shaun Marcum was tagged for seven runs in 4.2 innings as the Brewers lost to the Diamondbacks, 8-1, at Chase Field.

Game 4 of the series is set for Wednesday night. First pitch is at 8:37 p.m. and the game will be broadcast by TBS.

FIRST INNING

Brewers: Corey Hart leads off with a pop out to second. Nyjer Morgan gets fooled on a low changeup and swings at strike three. Ryan Braun walks and Josh Collmenter follows by plunking Prince Fielder, putting two on with two out. Rickie Weeks ends the threat with a strikeout. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 LOB; Brewers 0, Diamondbacks 0.

Diamondbacks: Willie Bloomquist leads off with a single into left. With Aaron Hill batting, Bloomquist steals second. Hill flies out to shallow center, not deep enough for Bloomquist to tag. Justin Upton grounds out to shortstop. Miguel Montero doubles, scoring Bloomquist and giving Arizona the lead for the first time in the series. Paul Goldschmidt singles, scoring Montero. Chris Young strikes out to end the inning. Totals – 2 runs, 3 hits, 1 LOB; Diamondbacks 2, Brewers 0.

SECOND INNING

Brewers: Jerry Hairston leads off with a base hit to right. Yuniesky Betancourt flies out to center. Jonathan Lucroy flies out to Gerardo Parra in left. Shaun Marcum strikes out swinging. Totals – 0 runs, 1 hit, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 2, Brewers 0.

Diamondbacks: Quick work for Marcum as Ryan Robers grounds out to third. Gerardo Parra flies out to left. Josh Collmenter grounds out to short to end the inning. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 2, Brewers 0.

THIRD INNING

Brewers: Hart cuts the lead in half with a solo home run to left, of an 88 MPH fastball. Morgan hits one right back to Collmenter for out No. 1. Braun strikes out swinging. Fielder skies one to Young in center, ending the inning. Totals – 1 run, 1 hit, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 2, Brewers 1.

Diamondbacks: Bloomquist grounds out to shortstop. Hill walks. Upton works Marcum full and draws a walk. Hill scores on a base hit by Montero, putting runners at the corners with one out. Upton is retired on a botched steal attempt. Lucroy tried to get Montero at second but Weeks gave up on the play when he saw Upton take off from third. Weeks threw home and Lucroy got the out in front of the plate. Inning ends on Goldschmidt's fly out to center. Totals – 1 run, 1 hit, 1 LOB; Diamondbacks 3, Brewers 1.

FOURTH INNING

Brewers: Weeks pops out to Roberts in foul territory. Hairston flies out to shallow right. Betancourt spoils an extended at-bat with a strikeout. Totals – 0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors; Diamondbacks 3, Brewers 1.

Diamondbacks: Young pops out to Lucroy in foul territory. Roberts is called out on strikes. Parra grounds out to Fielder, who connects with Marcum to end the inning. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 3, Brewers 1.

FIFTH INNING

Brewers: Lucroy and Marcum fly out to Parra. Hart lines out to Roberts at third in a quick inning for Collmenter. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 3, Brewers 1.

Diamondbacks: Collmenter leads off the inning with a base hit. He moves into scoring position on a Bloomquist single. Hill looks at a breaking ball for strike three. Upton grounds out to first, allowing both runners to move up. Marcum intentionally walks Montero, loading the bases. Marcum's first offering to Goldschmidt gets past Lucroy but Collmenter holds at third. Goldschmidt belts a home run into right, clearing the bases and giving the Diamondbacks a 7-1 lead. Roenicke gives Marcum the hook and hands the ball to Kameron Loe. Young reaches on a base hit to third and moves to second on a bad throw by Hairston. With Roberts batting, Young steals third with no move by the Brewers. Roberts singles, scoring Young, on a bouncer back up the middle. Parra grounds out to Loe, ending the inning.  Totals – 5 runs, 5 hits, 1 LOB; Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 1.

SIXTH INNING

Brewers: Collmenter walks Morgan to open the inning. Braun flies out to center. Fielder goes down swinging. Weeks pops out to Bloomquist in short center. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 LOB; Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 1.

Diamondbacks: Collmenter strikes out swinging. Bloomquist singles to left. Loe gets out of the inning by getting Hill to ground into a double play, Betancourt to Weeks to Fielder. Totals – 0 runs, 1 hit, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 1.

SEVENTH INNING

Brewers: Another quick inning for Collmenter as Hairston flies out to left, Betancourt pops to third and Lucroy flies out to center. Collmenter threw nine pitches and is at 93 for the night. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 1.

Diamondbacks: Chris Narveson emerges from the bullpen for the Arizona seventh and strikes out the side; Upton swinging, Montero looking and Goldschmidt swinging. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 1.

EIGHTH INNING

Brewers: David Hernandez is on to pitch for Arizona. Collmenter finishes after seven innings, allowing a run on just two hits with six strikeouts. The only damage comes off Hart's solo home run in the third. Pinch-hitter Craig Counsell leads off, driving one into the deep, right-field corner, but Upton makes the catch on the warning track. Hart follows and flies out to right, too. Morgan strikes out swinging to end it. Totals – 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 LOB; Diamondbacks 8, Brewers 1.

Diamondbacks: It's Marco Estrada's turn to get some work and gets after it striking out Chris Young to open the inning. Roberts follows with a base hit to left. Parra is called out on strikes. NINTH INNING

Brewers: Former Wisconsin Timber Rattler J.J. Putz comes on to close out the Brewers. Braun leads off and grounds out second. Fielder gets a base hit when McDonald and Goldschmidt can't connect on the throw. Rickie Weeks reaches on a force at second that retires Fielder. Mark Kotsay pinch-hits for the pitcher, but smacks the first pitch to Parra to end the game. Totals – 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 LOB.
