Police returned to Milwaukee Public Schools last week, something that has provoked strong opinions both from those for and against.

While school administrators and police officials obviously have an important role in how it plays out, we want to know what the people directly affected by this change think.

According to court records, police officers, often referred to as school resource officers, have been deployed at 11 MPS schools:

  • Riverside University High School, 1615 East Locust St.
  • Lynde and Harry Bradley Technology and Trade School, 700 S. 4th St.
  • North Division High School, 1011 W. Center St.
  • Milwaukee High School of the Arts, 2300 W. Highland Ave.
  • Alexander Hamilton High School, 6215 W. Warnimont Ave.
  • Washington High School of Information Technology, 2525 N. Sherman Blvd.
  • Harold S. Vincent School of Agricultural Science, 7501 N. Granville Road
  • James Madison Academic Campus, 8135 W. Florist Ave.
  • Rufus King International High School, 1801 W. Olive St.
  • Barack Obama School of Career and Technical Education, 5075 N. Sherman Blvd.
  • Milwaukee Marshall High School, 4141 N. 64th St.

For students and parents at one of these schools, what has it been like so far? If and how were you informed of the presence of a school resource officer? Were you introduced to them? What are you hoping comes out of their presence at your school?
