Domino's sugar in a canister -- Why did this take so long? Domino brand sugar has these very handy 4 lb. canisters that are leaps and bounds better than your old-school bags of sugar. No more mess and no need to transfer your sugar from a bag to some dingy sugar jar (never understood that anyway). And before you start crying eco-foul, the canister and lid are 100 percent recyclable. -- Jeff Sherman

J.B. Smoove -- If you caught the sixth season of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" --  it concluded on Sunday night -- then you are well aware of this hilarious actor who played Leon Black. After Black and his family survived Hurricane Katrina, they came to live with Larry "LD" David and his on-screen wife, Cheryl. Overall, the season was so-so -- David was his usual dick self -- but Smoove made up for the mediocrity. He delivered lines that were probably OK on paper, but absolutely gut-busting when they came from his mouth. It seems inevitable that Smoove, a stand-up comic and former writer for "Saturday Night Live," will have his own show or a starring role in the near future. (It sounds like he is sticking around for another season with David.) Catch reruns on HBO or HBO On Demand if you haven't seen the Smoove genius yet. By the way, the last two minutes of the season finale are the funniest moments in "Curb" history. -- Molly Snyder Edler

Clementines -- People may mistake them for tangerines or tiny oranges, but the clementine deserves differentiation among the citrus fruits. A member of the Mandarin family, they are easy to peel, incredibly juicy and delicious this time of year. Buy a box. -- Drew Olson

Spicy Chicken Mole Soup from the Soup Ladle -- I love soup. For my dollar, the best soup can be found at the Soup Ladle. (I hit the downtown location, 770 N. Jefferson). All the soups are quite delicious, but the Spicy Chicken Mole is my favorite. It's a Mexican fiesta in a bowl. Add a dollop of sour cream and a Diet Mountain Dew on the side and it's a tasty treat. -- Kevin Brandt

Bolillo buns -- If the Lord told me I could only eat one thing the rest of my life, it would be bread. And I've found the most heavenly bread, right here in Milwaukee. The bolillo (BO-lee-YO) buns at Pick ‘n' Save are without a doubt, the best sandwich bread I've ever tasted. You get them in a Plexiglas bin across from the deli area. The bolillo is Mexican and comes in hamburger and hot dog shapes. Take a bun, smash some avocado on it and fill it with whatever you feel like ... onion, tomato, chicken, pulled pork, mushrooms, roast beef or shrimp. The buns are baked in stone ovens (at least in Mexico) and are similar to a French baguette, but better. -- Dave Begel

The grilled salmon burger at St. Paul's Fish Market -- Salmon's never really done anything for me, but "everyone" says its good for you so I tried a grilled salmon burger last week at the wonderful St. Paul's Fish Market inside the Milwaukee Public Market. Very, very tasty. It's just salmon, lettuce, tomato and a bit of lemon tarter sauce on a grilled bun. At $7.95, it comes with a pickle and chips too. Try one for lunch. -- Jeff Sherman

TASCAM US-144 Interface and 990/991 Mic Pack Bundle -- Who needs cable television? Ever since my husband and I purchased this recording equipment, it's been the focal point of our evening entertainment. For the past decade, we've created dozens of original songs and contemplated purchasing studio time even though we found the hourly rate a bit daunting. Instead, upon the recommendation of another musician, we bought this, and have had an absolute blast recording with it. For the techies out there, it features Tascam's US-144 USB 2.0, 4x4 Audio/MIDI Computer Interface, MXL 990/991 recording mics and two Musician's Gear Low-Z mic cables (20 ft. each). It easily connects to a computer, and best of all, the inexpensive gear ($199) is good enough to provide excellent results. -- M.E.

The campaign to ban smoking and the cigarette tax increase -- I had the opportunity to see Willy Porter perform in a smoke-free environment a few weeks ago at Shank Hall and I can't begin to tell you what a pleasant experience that was. It's great to come home at night smelling the same way you did when you left the house. If cities like New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco can go smoke-free, Milwaukee can do it as well. I don't mind if you smoke. Go ahead. Smoke all you want. Puff four at a time, if you want. Just do it outside. And, kudos to the state legislature for jacking up the cigarette tax by over a buck a pack. I am a big fan of voluntary taxes. If someone wants to pay $8 a pack for smokes and we can get public services paid for, I have two words for you: "light up." -- K.B.
