Yeah, unexpectedly making the playoffs is fun – but you know what's even more fun? Unexpectedly WINNING in the playoffs. 

Indeed, the Packers kept this season of glorious surprises going on Sunday, defying the odds and absolutely clobbering the Cowboys in JerryWorld during the first round of the postseason, becoming the first seventh seed to win in the NFL playoffs. (In fairness, thanks to a change in the playoff structure, a seventh seed has only existed for four years – but still!) Can the offense – and especially Joe Barry's defense – keep this up? Could this team really go from 2-5 and failing to score a touchdown in the first half of five straight games to the NFC Championship – and, dare I even say it, maybe even the Super Bowl? But really, no joke this time: IS THERE NOTHING JORDAN LOVE CAN'T DO?!

Before we answer those questions, though, let's get to some of the more basic questions ... like who are the Packers actually playing next, when are they playing and where can we watch it? To make sure you don't miss Green Bay's latest miracle, here's a quick guide to everything you need to know going into the Pack's return to the divisional playoff round. 

Who are the Packers playing in the playoffs?

The Packers' tour of familiar faces will continue this weekend, as after dismantling former head coach Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys, they'll face off against the San Francisco 49ers, who've ended two of Green Bay's last three playoff visits. 

Indeed, since the Packers are the lowest seed in their side of the bracket, they're always guaranteed to play the highest seed in the NFC. And this year, that's the Niners, who clinched the number-one seed in the conference with a 12-5 record and earned a first-round bye for the start of the postseason.

We gotta stop meeting like this – but really, for the Packers' sake, they have to stop meeting in the playoffs, as two of their past three postseason trips have ended at San Francisco's hands: the disappointing 13-10 offensive no-show in early 2022 and that time the Niners won the NFC Championship with only eight passes, steamrolling the Pack 37-20 to end their 2019 season. And that's all not even including Green Bay's back-to-back playoff beatdowns courtesy of the Niners in 2012 and 2013 – or their defeat back in the 1998-99 Wild Card round. Safe to say these two franchises have some history that the Packers would love to start rewriting next weekend. 

Where are they playing?

Again, as the lowest seed on the NFC side of the playoff bracket, the Packers won't see another home game this season. So after playing terrible guests in JerryWorld and beating the Cowboys on the road in Dallas, they'll head back on the road this weekend and play in San Francisco. Well, actually Santa Clara but the point remains: not at Lambeau.

When will the Packers and Niners play?

Hopefully you didn't make plans for Saturday night.

Yes, instead of the usual Sunday rigmarole, the Packers and Niners will kickoff on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 7:15 p.m. Their matchup will mark the second game of the weekend's first divisional-round doubleheader, featuring the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens in the earlier 3:30 p.m. spat. The Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Bucs will then start the Sunday slate of action at 2 p.m., followed by the second AFC divisional round matchup between the Chiefs and Bills to end the weekend at 5:30 p.m.

What channel is Sunday's game?

Thankfully, the NFL's much-ballyhooed "Peacock exclusive" playoff games are done for the postseason, and the next round of matchups will all take place on normal broadcast stations. In the case of Saturday night's Packers-Niners bout, you'll be able to find it right where you found yesterday's game too: FOX, or FOX Sports' website if you're on the go or don't have a traditional TV set-up.

What's next?

If the Packers pull off another upset on Saturday night, first-time starter Jordan Love and the youngest team in football will amazingly bring the Pack back to the NFC Championship for the first time since the 2020-21 season. There, Green Bay would play the winner of the Detroit Lions versus Tampa Bay – again, on the road away from Wisconsin.
