So, after who-knows-how-long, one of the vacant storefront spaces at 1952 N. Farwell Ave. is finally taking shape as something. The eye-catching signage tells us that Patty Burger is coming soon and that, apparently, "Patty wants to meet you."

The burger and shakes joint -- which already seems to be a hit on East Adams Street in Chicago -- promises to be open in Milwaukee before Christmas.

The good news? They've got burgers of all kinds, including vegetarian style, that are served as either single-, double- or (lookout!) triple-layered. Milwaukee's still predominantly a burger and fries kind of town -- this should go over well.

The questionable news? It's directly across the street from the almighty Comet Café.

Stay tuned to OMC for more info on Patty Burger as it becomes available.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
