The City of Milwaukee has bagged the meters around City Hall just as tax bills have started arriving in mailboxes across town. But if standing in line isn't for you, you can now pay online.
City Treasurer Wayne F. Whittow and Mayor Tom Barrett announced the launch of a free E-Pay service allowing taxpayers to pay their tax bills with an "electronic check." The service is available to anyone with a checking account.
"This service eliminates the need to stand in line or pay postage, and is evidence of the City's commitment to convenient and efficient ways of doing business with our constituents," said Barrett.
"We are happy to add this modern method of payment to our existing options," Whittow said.
E-Pay is the latest in a line of online services offered by the City via its Web site, milwaukee.gov.
