Pet lovers unite: The Great Lakes Family Pet Expo is this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at State Fair Park. Proceeds from the event benefits A.W.A.R.E., a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in Wisconsin.

This event (for people, not pets) includes:

  • Parades of dogs, cats and other animals available for adoption.
  • An interactive exhibit with snakes, spiders and lizards.
  • Pet products expo.
  • Drug-sniffing police dogs, agility demonstrations and training demonstrations.

Also make sure to say hello to OnMilwaukee.com blogger Marilynn Mee, who will work the Basset Buddies Rescue booth and the Animal Emergency Center booth. She'll also take the stage with her dog, Geoffrey, at 3:30 p.m. to discuss an important pet blood donation program.
